non je na regrettian
(no, I regret nothing)

in collaboration with Sadia Aaminah
wax, cassette tape, paper
Dimensions variable

A lotus, sculpted and infused with cassette tape, rests upon a paper flower. These fragile forms, almost waiting for their disruption. The piece began as a meditation on memory; how it records, rewinds, and eventually fades. The cassette holds voices and songs that once carried meaning, while the lotus, a symbol of renewal, sits suspended between preservation and loss.
This work was activated through the performance from my wonderful friend and collaborator, Sadia, where the act of setting the piece alight became a quiet ritual of release. As the materials burned together, what remained was neither destruction nor memory, but a trace of both - an impermanence of the act itself.
Experienced on a beautiful evening with our friends and peers, releasing memories we were holding on to. No regrets.
