currently thinking about..
the body through the private spaces it occupies and leaves behind. Over the past few months, I have been collecting objects from bathrooms and other private spaces, including shower cubicles, mirrors, sinks, tubs, a couple of fixtures here and there, not knowing what would become of them, but drawn to them simply because they caught my attention. I collect these objects from people’s homes, travelling across the London boroughs and looking (a tad bit) stupid, but normal enough not to get stares.
The objects I find are often old and discarded, new and unneeded, almost saved from the skip, their destinies rewritten. I let them sit in my studio for months, sometimes days, enjoying the layers of marks, earth, fingerprints, limescale. Sometimes the space decides what happens to the object, the interventions I make, additions and subtractions of dust, water, soap (or the closest things to them?) and I let the materials naturally settle and exist.
I keep thinking about the space we occupy, how the soul holds the body together, how it places us in this current point in time, how this very body leaves its traces in all its ephemera.

i'm an artist, formally trained as a painter for most of my life but when I finally went to art school and was exposed to all the different forms of art that existed, I decided it was actually sculpture, installation, experiential art that drew me in the most. I want to create, sometimes re-create experiences. experiences I'm yet to experience, experiences I want you to experience, experiences that you and I can go back to and stay with. for a while.
other than being an artist, i like to teach. i've been teaching since i graduated from my A levels (no one took me seriously) (just kidding) (or not) (you will never know).
if you truly want to learn something, be someone, get somewhere, there's no force in in the world, in the universe in fact, that can stop you. you're never too young, too old, too stuck, or too lost, to learn.
other than teaching, i have worked for non profits, art organisations, primarily managed projects for them, lead educational programs, know a thing or two about managing galleries and residencies and working with biennales. i love getting to know creative people and i look forward to ways in which we can collaborate with and help each other.
